Nas known for his poetic deliveries, went to his Twitter handle today to establish the fact that greatness in life is only achieved through longevity, especially in the entertainment industry. To him, it depends on how long one stays active at doing something that actually produces real result and success.
Born Nasir Bin Olu Dara Jones, professionally known by his stage name as Nas is an American Hip Hop rapper, songwriter and entrepreneur. His breakthrough in the music industry came in 1992, when his song "Half time" (Credited to Nasty Nas) appeared on the soundtrack of the film Zebrahead. Columbia Records soon signed him to a contract. His debut recording to Nas, Illmatic (1994), drew widespread acclaim for its poetic narration of hard-edge inner-city life.
Nas is entrepreneur through his own record label; he serves as associate publisher of Mass Appeal Magazine and the co-founder of Mass Appeal Records.
He dropped out of school in the 8th grade. After the release of Illmatic, Nas wanted to go to film school, but because of its unexpected success, he went against his goal. Illmatic was recorded when Nas was 17-18 years old. Nas is 44 now, with so many awards to his accredited to his name including winning two BET awards and an Emmy sports award.
For Nas, it is thus longevity bringing greatness. But definitely for others it might be the opposite. One thing is for sure though, that an old broom will definitely sweep more than the old one. While staying long in a particular field, it should foster productivity, Nas.
